Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Library is situated in a separate 3 storied building at the east wing of the university administrative building. This library has a glorious history. It was established in 1938. At that time it was established as Bengal Agricultural Institute (BAI) on December 11, 1938. Most probably, it is the first special library of Bangladesh. The library has a collection of around 38,712 books (as on 31 December 2014)comprising the major subjects of agriculture and related subjects. It also collects popular national journals related to agriculture and a few international journals. Students and teachers can borrow books from the library; they use its reference books/journals during the opening hours of the library. The library has 24 personnel. It has been providing Internet service and photocopy facilities to the users. Recently the library has interest on e-Resources. As a result it subscribed JSTOR, HINARI, AGORA, OARE, OXFORD SCHOLARSHIP ONLINE, PEARSONS and also it has an institutional repository. This university has built a Digital Archive on Agricultural Theses and Journals (DAATJ) under the funding of UGC-HEQEPThe library has 24 officers and staff. The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University has three halls for male students and two for female students. Students either to reside in or are attached to a hall of residence. A provost assisted by assistant provost looks after the administration of a hall.

New technologies are developed by potential researchers through Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Research System (SAURES). The Genetics and Plant Breeding Department has a major research thrust on development of new varieties of crops; identification of parental lines for hybrid development; molecular characterization of crops; and germplasm characterization, documentation and preservation.
November 16, 2015 is the historical day for the university. The very first convocation is happened. President of Bangladesh, Mr. Abdul Hamid Khan was the chief guest of the convocation.
